Post Installation
The first thing you should do after installing Linux Lite is:
- Click on the
Whisker Menu - Click
Install Updates
If you have any hardware¹ that requires proprietary² firmware³, such as:
- Wireless cards
- Ethernet ports
- Graphics cards (refered to as
GPUs)
You should:
- Click on the
Whisker Menu - Click on
Settings - Click on
Install Drivers
Read the information provided very carefully before choosing the right driver! Choosing the recommended driver is usually the best choice.
- Physical parts of the computer, such as the monitor, keyboard, CPU, RAM, and Hard Drive.
- Proprietary software: Is
softwarethat isclosed-source, meaning you can not look at or change thesource code. A better definition ofproprietarysoftware can be found here - Firmware: a piece of
software"embedded" into the hardware.
