Post Installation

The first thing you should do after installing Linux Lite is:

  1. Click on the Whisker Menu
  2. Click Install Updates

If you have any hardware¹ that requires proprietary² firmware³, such as:

  • Wireless cards
  • Ethernet ports
  • Graphics cards (refered to as GPUs)

You should:

  1. Click on the Whisker Menu
  2. Click on Settings
  3. Click on Install Drivers

Read the information provided very carefully before choosing the right driver! Choosing the recommended driver is usually the best choice.

  1. Physical parts of the computer, such as the monitor, keyboard, CPU, RAM, and Hard Drive.
  2. Proprietary software: Is software that is closed-source, meaning you can not look at or change the source code. A better definition of proprietary software can be found here
  3. Firmware: a piece of software "embedded" into the hardware.
